My father, (Howard Steinkamp and RuthE's grandmother, Elizabeth (Lilly Steinkamp) Gless were brother and sister, making us 1st. cousins, (once removed). Sorry to say, but the Steinkamp's were not a close family. In spite of this, RuthE tried to maintain contact, keeping the relationship alive. Over the years RuthE would be the first to call me to wish me a happy birthday. I was so looking forward to this year's call as it was my 80th.! Sadly, that call never came.
I tell you this anecdote to cite another example of how RuthE's heart looked beyond herself to bring a little joy into another's life. She was a special person, and I will miss her.
